Energy Surcharge Calculation

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Energy Surcharge will be added when diesel fuel is equal to or above $3.50/gallon

In order to calculate an unbiased ESC, we will be using the Midwest average diesel fuel cost for our base calculations. This information is uploaded from the US Government EIA (Energy Information Administration) website on Monday evening:

http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/oog/info/wohdp/diesel.asp#graph_button

(The EIA website is updated Monday evenings – We will calculate loads from Tuesday to Monday using the previous Monday rate.)

EXAMPLES:

For mix and match (palletized) loads:

(The posted price of fuel on Monday evening) x (1.67) = (per pallet ESC fee)
For example, Tuesday fuel is $3.50/gallon.
$3.50 x 1.67 = $5.85 per pallet
$5.85 per pallet x 18 (number of pallets on truck) = $105.30

Your energy surcharge will be $105.30

For bulk mulch loads:

(The posted price of fuel on Monday evening) x (.42) = (per cubic yard ESC fee)
For example, Tuesday fuel is $3.50/gallon.
$3.50 x .42 = $1.47 per cubic yard
$1.47 per cubic yard x 70 (number of cubic yards on truck) = $102.90

Your energy surcharge will be $102.90

The cost of fuel continues to fluctuate dramatically. We update our formula every Tuesday morning using the government posted Midwest average on the above website.

In order to keep costs down for everyone concerned:

  • Trucks will be loaded to their full legal weight capacity
  • ½ Semi-loads (10 pallet minimum) will incur a $50 drop charge in addition to the energy surcharge (you are only charged for the number of pallets you receive)
  • Any claim (as to condition or count) must be made immediately upon receipt of goods.  Once accepted in good condition, we cannot be responsible for improper handling, maintenance, or damage by the elements.
  • All return items are subject to a 25% restocking fee and will only be allowed within 45 days of purchase.  All return shipping will be at the customer’s expense of $4.00 per mile or a minimum of $250 per load unless damage to shipped unit is noted on the Bill of Lading at the time of delivery.
